

Azrudi Mustapha is an advocate of clean and sustainable energy with over two decades of experience in the energy sector. He has been featured and given talks on environment and sustainability on various media outlets such as Bernama, The Star, BFM, and Malaysia Nature Society (Selangor). He spent over a decade working with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) where he gained extensive experience in power generation technologies, distribution grid planning and power systems analysis. He has also served the Ministry of Energy (MESTECC) in its government agency to design energy markets and reform the Malaysia Electricity Supply Industry (MESI). Later on he re-served the Ministry of Energy (PETRA) to deliver a preliminary feasibility study on Small Modular Reactors for Malaysia.
Azrudi has a Doctorate of Philosophy degree from Imperial College London in Nuclear Thermalhydraulics, funded by Yayasan Khazanah Nasional. He also has a Master’s Degree from University of Manchester in Nuclear Science & Technology funded by British Chevening, a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University, Ottawa Canada, and he is also a Sunway University alumni. Azrudi is currently dedicated to his technology start-up, Clean Energy Xpeditions (CENERGY) to design and develop a new kind of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) - a low-pressure natural-circulation water reactor that has the potential to be an order of magnitude safer than what global regulators require. He has been granted patents for his LPWR design in 19 countries with another 20 countries pending.
